NAME

6       fgconsole - print the number of the active VT.

SYNOPSIS

10       fgconsole [ -h --help | -V --version | -n --next-available ]

DESCRIPTION

13       If  the active Virtual Terminal is /dev/ttyN, then prints N on standard
14       output.

16       If the console is a serial console, then "serial" is printed instead.

18       -h --help
19              Prints short usage message and exits.

21       -V --version
22              Prints version number and exits.

24       --next-available
25              Will show the next unallocated virtual terminal. Normally 6 vir‐
26              tual  terminals  are  allocated,  with number 7 used for X; this
27              will return "8" in this case.

NOTES

31       Under devfs, the consoles are in /dev/vc/N.  devfsd may  maintain  sym‐
32       links for compatibility.
