NAME

6 mesg - control write access to your terminal
7

SYNOPSIS

9 mesg [y|n]
10

DESCRIPTION

12 Mesg controls the access to your terminal by others. It's typically
13 used to allow or disallow other users to write to your terminal (see
14 write(1)).
15

OPTIONS

17 y Allow write access to your terminal.
18
19 n Disallow write access to your terminal.
20
21 If no option is given, mesg prints out the current access state of your
22 terminal.
23

NOTES

25 Mesg assumes that its standard input is connected to your terminal.
26 That also means that if you are logged in multiple times, you can
27 get/set the mesg status of other sessions by using redirection. For
28 example "mesg n < /dev/pts/46".
