NAME

12 cbrt, cbrtf, cbrtl - cube root functions
13

SYNOPSIS

15       #include <math.h>
16
17       double cbrt(double x);
18       float cbrtf(float x);
19       long double cbrtl(long double x);
20
21

DESCRIPTION

23 These functions shall compute the real cube root of their argument x.
24

RETURN VALUE

26 Upon successful completion, these functions shall return the cube root
27       of x.
28
29 If x is NaN, a NaN shall be returned.
30
31       If x is ±0 or ±Inf, x shall be returned.
32

ERRORS

34       No errors are defined.
35
36 The following sections are informative.
37

EXAMPLES

39       None.
40

APPLICATION USAGE

42       None.
43

RATIONALE

45 For some applications, a true cube root function, which returns nega‐
46 tive results for negative arguments, is more appropriate than pow( x,
47       1.0/3.0), which returns a NaN for x less than 0.
48

FUTURE DIRECTIONS

50       None.
