NAME

12 h_errno - error return value for network database operations
13

SYNOPSIS

15 #include <netdb.h>
16

DESCRIPTION

18 This method of returning errors is used only in connection with obso‐
19 lescent functions.
20
21 The <netdb.h> header provides a declaration of h_errno as a modifiable
22 lvalue of type int.
23
24 It is unspecified whether h_errno is a macro or an identifier declared
25 with external linkage. If a macro definition is suppressed in order to
26 access an actual object, or a program defines an identifier with the
27 name h_errno, the behavior is undefined.
28

RETURN VALUE

30 None.
31

ERRORS

33 No errors are defined.
34
35 The following sections are informative.
36

EXAMPLES

38 None.
39

APPLICATION USAGE

41 Applications should obtain the definition of h_errno by the inclusion
42 of the <netdb.h> header.
43

RATIONALE

45 None.
46

FUTURE DIRECTIONS

48 h_errno may be withdrawn in a future version.
