DESCRIPTION

21       The puts() function shall write the string pointed to by s, followed by
22       a <newline>, to the standard output stream stdout. The terminating null
23       byte shall not be written.

25       The st_ctime and st_mtime fields of the file shall be marked for update
26       between the successful execution of puts() and the next successful com‐
27       pletion of a call to fflush() or fclose() on the same stream or a  call
28       to exit() or abort().

RETURN VALUE

31       Upon  successful completion, puts() shall return a non-negative number.
32       Otherwise, it shall return EOF, shall set an error  indicator  for  the
33       stream,  and errno shall be set to indicate the error.

42       The  following  example  gets the current time, converts it to a string
43       using localtime() and asctime(), and prints it to standard output using
