NAME

13 rewinddir — reset the position of a directory stream to the beginning
14 of a directory
15

SYNOPSIS

17 #include <dirent.h>
18
19       void rewinddir(DIR *dirp);
20

DESCRIPTION

22 The rewinddir() function shall reset the position of the directory
23 stream to which dirp refers to the beginning of the directory. It shall
24 also cause the directory stream to refer to the current state of the
25 corresponding directory, as a call to opendir() would have done. If
26 dirp does not refer to a directory stream, the effect is undefined.
27
28 After a call to the fork() function, either the parent or child (but
29 not both) may continue processing the directory stream using readdir(),
30 rewinddir(), or seekdir(). If both the parent and child processes use
31 these functions, the result is undefined.
32

RETURN VALUE

34 The rewinddir() function shall not return a value.
35

ERRORS

37 No errors are defined.
38
39 The following sections are informative.
40

EXAMPLES

42 None.
43

APPLICATION USAGE

45 The rewinddir() function should be used in conjunction with opendir(),
46 readdir(), and closedir() to examine the contents of the directory.
47 This method is recommended for portability.
48

RATIONALE

50 None.
