DESCRIPTION

13       The desktop-file-validate program is a tool to validate  desktop  entry
14       files according to the Desktop Entry specification 1.1.

16       The  specification  describes a file format to provide information such
17       as name, icon and description for an application. Such a file can  then
18       be  used  as  an application launcher and to display the application in
19       the applications menu.

24       The desktop entry files are commonly called desktop files.

OPTIONS

27       The following options are supported:

29       --no-hints
30              Do  not  output hints about things that might be improved in the
31              desktop file.

33       --no-warn-deprecated
34              Do not warn about usage of deprecated items that were defined in
35              previous versions of the specification.

37       --warn-kde
38              Warn  about  usage  of KDE extensions to the specification. This
39              includes the use of the KDE Desktop Entry group, of the Service‐
40              Types, DocPath, Keywords, InitialPreference, Dev, FSType, Mount‐
41              Point, ReadOnly, UnmountIcon keys, or of the  Service,  Service‐
42              Type and FSDevice types.
