DESCRIPTION

17       Malaga is a development environment for natural-language grammars based
18       on the Left-Associative Grammar formalism.  Malaga grammars can be used
19       for automatic morphological and/or syntactic analysis.

21       The program mallex generates a Malaga run-time lexicon by letting allo‐
22       morph  rules process a base-form lexicon. It can be started in interac‐
23       tive mode to help find bugs in the base-form lexicon or  in  the  allo‐
24       morph rules.

26       mallex uses the following grammar components:

28       symbol-file
29              The  symbol-file  has  the  suffix .sym and contains the symbols
30              that are used in the lexicon and/or the allomorph rules.

32       rule-file
33              The rule-file has the suffix .all  and  contains  the  allomorph
34              rules used to create the runtime-lexicon.

36       lexicon-file
37              The  lexicon-file has the suffix .lex and contains the base-form
38              lexicon entries that are used as input for the allomorph rules.

40       prelex-file (optional)
41              The prelex-file has the suffix .prelex and contains  precompiled
42              allomorph  entries,  which  have been created by a former run of
43              mallex with the option -prelex.

45       You can give the names of the grammar components as command line  argu‐
46       ments,  in any order.  Alternatively, you can describe these components
47       in a project-file and use the name of the project file as mallex'  sin‐
48       gle command-line argument. A project file has the suffix .pro.

50       If  no command line options are given, mallex runs in interactive mode,
51       and you can enter commands.  The lexicon-file and prelex-file  are  not
52       used  in interactive mode. If you are not sure about the name of a com‐
53       mand, use the command help to get an overview of all mallex commands.

62              Create the run time lexicon file from the base form lexicon file
63              and  the  optional prelex file, and save it as a binary run-time
