6 ipmiutil_config - list, save, and restore BMC configuration parameters

13 ipmiutil config is a program that uses an IPMI driver to send IPMI com‐
14 mands which list, save and restore BMC configuration parameters for
15 LAN, Serial, PEF, SOL, User, Channel. This combines the functionality
16 of ipmiutil lan (ilan) and ipmiutil serial (iserial). Note that some
17 of the LAN parameters cannot be restored remotely over the IPMI LAN,
18 changing the configuration that is in use. This utility can use either
19 the /dev/ipmi0 driver from OpenIPMI, the /dev/imb driver from Intel,
20 the /dev/ipmikcs driver from valinux, direct user-space IOs, or the
21 IPMI LAN interface if -N.

25 Command line options are described below.
26 -l Lists BMC configuration parameters with a keyword, index, and
29 its hex values. This is the default behavior if no options are
30 specified.
31 -r config_file
33 Restores BMC configuration from config_file, which was produced
34 with -s below.
35 -s config_file
37 Saves BMC configuration to config_file. This file could be
38 edited, in certain cases, such as to vary the BMC IP address
39 (LanParam 3), or to use the UserPassword records. Note that
40 lines beginning with '#' are comments and are ignored. For
41 editing UserPassword records, convert your text value to hex
42 format; for example "echo 'mypassword' |od -t x1", and leave off
43 the trailing 0a.
44 -x Causes extra debug messages to be displayed.
46 -p password_to_set
48 This specifies the firmware password to set for BMC LAN access
49 for all users during the restore. If not specified, the pass‐
50 word configuration will not be changed, unless a valid UserPass‐
51 word record is present in the file to be restored. Note that
52 user passwords are write-only via standard IPMI commands.
53 -L lan_ch_num
55 This specifies the IPMI LAN channel number used for BMC LAN.
56 This varies by platform, and can be found in the platform tech‐
57 nical specifications. By default, bmcconfig scans all IPMI
58 channels to find a LAN channel for BMC LAN.
59 -N nodename
62 Nodename or IP address of the remote target system. If a node‐
63 name is specified, IPMI LAN interface is used. Otherwise the
64 local system management interface is used.
65 -P/-R rmt_pswd
67 Remote password for the nodename given. The default is a null
68 password.
69 -U rmt_user
71 Remote username for the nodename given. The default is a null
72 username.
73 -E Use the remote password from Environment variable IPMI_PASSWORD.
75 -F drv_t
77 Force the driver type to one of the followng: imb, va, open,
78 gnu, landesk, lan, lan2, lan2i, kcs, smb. Note that lan2i means
79 lan2 with intelplus. The default is to detect any available
80 driver type and use it.
81 -J Use the specified LanPlus cipher suite (0 thru 17):
83 0=none/none/none, 1=sha1/none/none, 2=sha1/sha1/none,
84 3=sha1/sha1/cbc128, 4=sha1/sha1/xrc4_128, 5=sha1/sha1/xrc4_40,
85 6=md5/none/none, ... 14=md5/md5/xrc4_40. Default is 3.
86 -T Use a specified IPMI LAN Authentication Type: 0=None, 1=MD2,
88 2=MD5, 4=Straight Password, 5=OEM.
89 -V Use a specified IPMI LAN privilege level. 1=Callback level,
91 2=User level, 3=Operator level, 4=Administrator level (default),
92 5=OEM level.
93 -Y Yes, do prompt the user for the IPMI LAN remote password.
95 Alternatives for the password are -E or -P.
