NAME

6 hostid - set or print identifier of current host system
7

SYNOPSIS

9 hostid [ identifier ]
10

DESCRIPTION

12 The hostid command prints the identifier of the current host in hexa‐
13 decimal. This numeric value is expected to be unique across all hosts
14 and is commonly set to the host's Internet address. The super-user can
15 set the hostid by giving a hexadecimal argument or the hostname; this
16 is usually done in the startup script /etc/rc.local.
