SYNOPSIS

15       zcat [file...]

DESCRIPTION

18       The zcat utility shall write to standard output the  uncompressed  form
19       of  files  that have been compressed using the compress utility.  It is
20       the equivalent of uncompress -c. Input files are not affected.

28       file   The pathname of a file  previously  processed  by  the  compress
29              utility. If file already has the .Z suffix specified, it is used
30              as submitted. Otherwise, the .Z suffix is appended to the  file‐

35       The  standard  input  shall be used only if no file operands are speci‐
36       fied, or if a file operand is '-' .

INPUT FILES

39       Input files shall be compressed files that are in the  format  produced
40       by the compress utility.

ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES

43       The following environment variables shall affect the execution of zcat:

45       LANG   Provide  a  default value for the internationalization variables
46              that are unset or null. (See  the  Base  Definitions  volume  of
47              IEEE Std 1003.1-2001,  Section  8.2,  Internationalization Vari‐
48              ables for the precedence of internationalization variables  used
49              to determine the values of locale categories.)

51       LC_ALL If  set  to a non-empty string value, override the values of all
52              the other internationalization variables.

55              Determine the locale for  the  interpretation  of  sequences  of
56              bytes  of  text  data as characters (for example, single-byte as
57              opposed to multi-byte characters in arguments).
