NAME

6 getgid, getegid - get group identity
7

SYNOPSIS

9       #include <unistd.h>
10       #include <sys/types.h>
11
12       gid_t getgid(void);
13       gid_t getegid(void);
14

DESCRIPTION

16 getgid() returns the real group ID of the calling process.
17
18 getegid() returns the effective group ID of the calling process.
19

ERRORS

21 These functions are always successful.
22

CONFORMING TO

24       POSIX.1-2001, POSIX.1-2008, 4.3BSD.
25

NOTES

27 The original Linux getgid() and getegid() system calls supported only
28       16-bit group IDs.  Subsequently, Linux 2.4 added getgid32()  and  gete‐
29 gid32(), supporting 32-bit IDs. The glibc getgid() and getegid() wrap‐
30 per functions transparently deal with the variations across kernel ver‐
31       sions.
