1GETRPCPORT(3) BSD Library Functions Manual GETRPCPORT(3)
2

NAME

4 getrpcport — get RPC port number
5

SYNOPSIS

7     int
8     getrpcport(char *host, int prognum, int versnum, int proto);
9

DESCRIPTION

11 The getrpcport() function returns the port number for version versnum of
12 the RPC program prognum running on host and using protocol proto. It
13 returns 0 if it cannot contact the portmapper, or if prognum is not reg‐
14 istered. If prognum is registered but not with version versnum, it will
15 still return a port number (for some version of the program) indicating
16 that the program is indeed registered. The version mismatch will be
17 detected upon the first call to the service.

AVAILABILITY
