NAME

6 insmod - simple program to insert a module into the Linux Kernel
7

SYNOPSIS

9 insmod [ filename ] [ module options... ]
10

DESCRIPTION

12 insmod is a trivial program to insert a module into the kernel: if the
13 filename is a hyphen, the module is taken from standard input. Most
14 users will want to use modprobe(8) instead, which is more clever.
15
16 Only the most general of error messages are reported: as the work of
17 trying to link the module is now done inside the kernel, the dmesg usu‐
18 ally gives more information about errors.
