NAME

13 wcsdup — duplicate a wide-character string
14

SYNOPSIS

16 #include <wchar.h>
17
18       wchar_t *wcsdup(const wchar_t *string);
19

DESCRIPTION

21 The wcsdup() function is the wide-character equivalent of the strdup()
22 function.
23
24 The wcsdup() function shall return a pointer to a new wide-character
25 string, allocated as if by a call to malloc(), which is the duplicate
26 of the wide-character string string. The returned pointer can be
27 passed to free(). A null pointer is returned if the new wide-character
28 string cannot be created.
29

RETURN VALUE

31 Upon successful completion, the wcsdup() function shall return a
32 pointer to the newly allocated wide-character string. Otherwise, it
33 shall return a null pointer and set errno to indicate the error.
34

ERRORS

36 The wcsdup() function shall fail if:
37
38 ENOMEM Memory large enough for the duplicate string could not be allo‐
39 cated.

EXAMPLES

44 None.
45

APPLICATION USAGE

47 For functions that allocate memory as if by malloc(), the application
48 should release such memory when it is no longer required by a call to
49 free(). For wcsdup(), this is the return value.
50

RATIONALE

52 None.
