NAME

6       newaliases - rebuild the database for the mail aliases file

SYNOPSIS

9       newaliases [-f file]

DESCRIPTION

12       newaliases rebuilds the random access database for the mail aliases
13       file, the location of which is defined in smtpd.conf(5), and which by
14       default is /etc/opensmtpd/aliases.  If using database (db) files this
15       utility must be run every time the aliases(5) file is changed.

17       The options are as follows:

19            -f file
20                   Use file as the configuration file, instead of the default
21                   /etc/opensmtpd/smtpd.conf.

23       Note: this utility is provided for sendmail compatibility.  The pre‐
24       ferred way of rebuilding the database is with makemap(8):
25           # makemap -t aliases /etc/opensmtpd/aliases

35       The newaliases utility exits 0 on success, and >0 if an error occurs.
