DESCRIPTION

13       pwhistory_helper is a helper program for the pam_pwhistory module that
14       transfers password hashes from passwd or shadow file to the opasswd
15       file and checks a password supplied by user against the existing hashes
16       in the opasswd file.

18       The purpose of the helper is to enable tighter confinement of login and
19       password changing services. The helper is thus called only when SELinux
20       is enabled on the system.

22       The interface of the helper - command line options, and input/output
23       data format are internal to the pam_pwhistory module and it should not
24       be called directly from applications.
