DESCRIPTION

22       hwloc-compress-dir  takes an input directory containing XML exports and
23       tries to compress it by computing topology diffs between them (with the
24       hwloc-diff  program).   Each file is copied in the output directory ei‐
25       ther as a diff if it could be compressed, or  as  its  original  entire
26       file otherwise.

28       hwloc-compress-dir  may recompress a directory that was previously com‐
29       pressed. All input files that are already in the output directory,  ei‐
30       ther  compressed or not, are ignored. New input files are compressed as
31       much as possible as usual.

33       For each file of the directory, the output filename is the same as  the
34       original  if  not  compressed,  otherwise  its  extension is changed to
35       .diff.xml.

37       Compressed files are based on  another  non-compressed  topology.   Its
38       name is stored in the refname topology diff attribute.

40       The  generated output diff files may be used with hwloc-patch just like
41       any file generated by hwloc-diff.

RETURN VALUE

49       Upon successful execution, hwloc-compress-dir returns 0.

51       hwloc-compress-dir will return nonzero if any  kind  of  error  occurs,
52       such as (but not limited to) failure to parse the command line.
