16 readpst is a program that can read an Outlook PST (Personal Folders)
17 file and convert it into an mbox file, a format suitable for KMail, a
18 recursive mbox structure, or separate emails.

21 -C default-charset
22 Set the character set to be used for items with an unspecified
23 character set.
24 -D
26 Include deleted items in the output.
27 -M
29 Output messages in MH (rfc822) format as separate files. This will
30 create folders as named in the PST file, and will put each email
31 together with any attachments into its own file. These files will
32 be numbered from 1 to n with no leading zeros. This format has no
33 from quoting.
34 -S
36 Output messages into separate files. This will create folders as
37 named in the PST file, and will put each email in its own file.
38 These files will be numbered from 1 to n with no leading zeros.
39 Attachments will also be saved in the same folder as the email
40 message. The attachments for message $m are saved as $m-$name where
41 $name is (the original name of the attachment, or ´attach$n´ if the
42 attachment had no name), where $n is another sequential index with
43 no leading zeros. This format has no from quoting.
44 -V
46 Show program version and exit.
47 -a attachment-extension-list
49 Set the list of acceptable attachment extensions. Any attachment
50 that does not have an extension on this list will be discarded. All
51 attachments are acceptable if the list is empty, or this option is
52 not specified.
53 -b
55 Do not save the attachments for the RTF format of the email body.
56 -c format
58 Set the Contact output mode. Use -cv for vcard format or -cl for an
59 email list.
60 -d debug-file
62 Specify name of debug log file. The log file is now an ascii file,
63 instead of the binary file used in previous versions.
64 -e
66 Same as the M option, but each output file will include an
67 extension from (.eml, .ics, .vcf). This format has no from quoting.

70 Show summary of options and exit.
71 -j jobs
73 Specifies the maximum number of parallel jobs. Specify 0 to
74 suppress running parallel jobs. Folders may be processed in
75 parallel. Output formats that place each mail message in a separate
76 file (-M, -S, -e) may process the contents of individual folders in
77 parallel.

80 Changes the output format to KMail. This format uses mboxrd from
81 quoting.

84 Same as the e option, but write .msg files also

87 Specifies the output directory. The directory must already exist,
88 and is entered after the PST file is opened, but before any
89 processing of files commences.

92 Changes to silent mode. No feedback is printed to the screen,
93 except for error messages.

96 Changes the output format to Recursive. This will create folders as
97 named in the PST file, and will put all emails in a file called
98 "mbox" inside each folder. Appointments go into a file called
99 "calendar", address book entries go into a file called "contacts",
100 and journal entries go into a file called "journal". These files
101 are then compatible with all mbox-compatible email clients. This
102 format uses mboxrd from quoting.
103 -t output-type-codes
105 Specifies the item types that are processed. The argument is a
106 sequence of single letters from (e,a,j,c) for (email, appointment,
107 journal, contact) types. The default is to process all item types.
108 -u
110 Sets Thunderbird mode, a submode of recursive mode. This causes two
111 extra .type and .size meta files to be created. This format uses
112 mboxrd from quoting.
113 -w
115 Overwrite any previous output files. Beware: When used with the -S
116 switch, this will remove all files from the target folder before
117 writing. This is to keep the count of emails and attachments
118 correct.

121 Output bodies in UTF-8, rather than original encoding, if a UTF-8
122 version is available.

125 Output formats that place each mail message in a separate file (-M, -S,
126 -e, -m) don´t do any from quoting. Output formats that place multiple
127 email messages in a single file (-k, -r, -u) now use mboxrd from
128 quoting rules. If none of those switches are specified, the default
129 output format uses mboxrd from quoting rules, since it produces
130 multiple email messages in a single file. Earlier versions used mboxo
131 from quoting rules for all output formats.
