PROLOG

6 This manual page is part of the POSIX Programmer's Manual. The Linux
7 implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding
8 Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may
9 not be implemented on Linux.

NAME

12 feholdexcept — save current floating-point environment
13

SYNOPSIS

15 #include <fenv.h>
16
17       int feholdexcept(fenv_t *envp);
18

DESCRIPTION

20 The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the
21 ISO C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here
22 and the ISO C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1‐2017
23 defers to the ISO C standard.
24
25 The feholdexcept() function shall save the current floating-point envi‐
26 ronment in the object pointed to by envp, clear the floating-point sta‐
27 tus flags, and then install a non-stop (continue on floating-point
28 exceptions) mode, if available, for all floating-point exceptions.
29

RETURN VALUE

31 The feholdexcept() function shall return zero if and only if non-stop
32 floating-point exception handling was successfully installed.
33

ERRORS

35 No errors are defined.
36
37 The following sections are informative.
38

EXAMPLES

40 None.
41

APPLICATION USAGE

43 None.
44

RATIONALE

46 The feholdexcept() function should be effective on typical
47 IEC 60559:1989 standard implementations which have the default non-stop
48 mode and at least one other mode for trap handling or aborting. If the
49 implementation provides only the non-stop mode, then installing the
50 non-stop mode is trivial.
51

FUTURE DIRECTIONS

53 None.
