PROLOG

6 This manual page is part of the POSIX Programmer's Manual. The Linux
7 implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding
8 Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may
9 not be implemented on Linux.

NAME

12 memccpy — copy bytes in memory
13

SYNOPSIS

15 #include <string.h>
16
17 void *memccpy(void *restrict s1, const void *restrict s2,
18           int c, size_t n);
19

DESCRIPTION

21 The memccpy() function shall copy bytes from memory area s2 into s1,
22 stopping after the first occurrence of byte c (converted to an unsigned
23 char) is copied, or after n bytes are copied, whichever comes first. If
24 copying takes place between objects that overlap, the behavior is unde‐
25 fined.
26

RETURN VALUE

28 The memccpy() function shall return a pointer to the byte after the
29 copy of c in s1, or a null pointer if c was not found in the first n
30 bytes of s2.
31

ERRORS

33 No errors are defined.

35 The following sections are informative.
36

EXAMPLES

38 None.
39

APPLICATION USAGE

41 The memccpy() function does not check for the overflow of the receiving
42 memory area.
43

RATIONALE

45 None.
46

FUTURE DIRECTIONS
