NAME

luach - typeset a Hebrew calendar.

SYNOPSIS

      luach [-ehnidgj] [-.request] year ...

DESCRIPTION

luach typesets the Hebrew/Gregorian calendars for a list of Hebrew
years. To generate a printout, its output should be piped through
troff. Each Hebrew month is printed in two lines, with the latter
describing the corresponding partial Gregorian months. Days in the
week are properly aligned. Jewish holidays are highlighted.

Optionally, the two-line printout of each month may be followed by a
third line, describing the Pentateuch reading sequence (see appendix).
Saturdays are marked by the sequence number of the portion being read
in that week. Saturdays in which two consecutive portions are read,
are marked by the appending a plus sign to the first sequence number.
Holiday Saturdays, in which the reading is out of the sequence, are
      marked by asterisks.

OPTIONS

The options, which may be given in any order, and, unless reset, apply
to all the following year arguments, are:

-e Typeset the calendar in English (the default).

-h Typeset the calendar in Hebrew.

-n Do not generate a reading sequence (the default).

-i Generate a reading sequence used in Israel.

-d Generate a reading sequence used in the Diaspora, and highlight
             the additional festival days.

-g Generate Gregorian dates for Hebrew dates starting at 19 Tishri
5343 (the default). Note that the Gregorian calendar became
official in Great Britain and its colonies (including North
America) in 6 Tishri 5513, and in Russia in 1 Adar 5678.

      -j Generate Julian dates.

      -.request
Issue a troff request before processing the next year. As an
example, the setting -.fam\ H (when used in conjunction with
GNU's troff) typesets the calendar in Helvetica.
