NAME

6       MPIOSA - Given the area identifier of one of the areas defined by
7       whatever database was last read by one of the EZMAPB routines MPLNAM,
8       MPLNDM, MPLNDR, and MPLNRI, this function returns the area identifier
9       of the smallest area, at a specified level, that contains it.

DESCRIPTION

20       IAIN        is an input expression of type INTEGER, specifying the area
21                   identifier of a particular area of interest.

23       ILVL        is an input expression of type INTEGER, specifying the
24                   level of the containing area to be found.

C-BINDING DESCRIPTION

27       The C-binding argument description is the same as the FORTRAN argument
28       description.

USAGE

31       The statement "IOSA=MPIOSA(IAIN,ILVL)" retrieves in IOSA the area
32       identifier of that area, at level ILVL, that contains the area with
33       area identifier IAIN.  For example, if IMAD is the area identifier of
34       the little island in Lake Superior called "Lake Madeline", then
35       MPIOSA(IMAD,3) is the area identifier of the area called "Conterminous
36       US".
