6       Alien::Packages::Roadmap - high level to do list and targetted goals

SYNOPSIS

9       This page provides a high level overview about the future extensions of
10       the Alien::Packages module and the improvements of the module itself.

14       Alien::Packages needs support for a wider range of platforms and
15       packages, this covers Gentoo Linux or HP-UX as well as identifying
16       installed Perl5 modules using CPAN or CPANPLUS.

19       Where feasible, additional information like installed patches (e.g.
20       AIX), package vulnerabilities (pkgsrc), installation dates, package
21       origin etc., can and should be provided.

23   Speed Improvement
24       When querying packages of several files, for each file the query is
25       separately executed. That means, invoking the package tool for querying
26       each file, because most query tools exit with an error code when at
27       least one queried file isn't managed by this package management.
28       Speeding up querying multiple files needs a way to "ignore" safe
29       errors.

RESOURCES AND CONTRIBUTIONS

32       There're several ways how you can help to support future development:
33       You can hire the author to implement the features you require at most
34       (this also defines priorities), you can negotiate a support and
35       maintenance contract with the company of the author and you can provide
36       tests and patches. Further, you can submit documentation and links to
37       resources to improve or add packaging systems or grant remote access to
38       machines with insufficient supported packaging tools.
