NAME

6       jng - JPEG Network Graphics (JNG) sub-format

DESCRIPTION

9       JNG  (JPEG Network Graphics) is a sub-format of the MNG (Multiple-image
10       Network Graphics) format. As with MNG it extends on the features of the
11       popular PNG (Portable Network Graphics) image-format.

13       This sub-format was designed to support a lossy compression-method.  It
14       is based completely on the JPEG specification. It  adds  the  high-com‐
15       pression ratios of JPEG for photographic images.

17       As  a member of the Network Graphics family, JNG was deemed adequate as
18       a stand-alone format as it extends the JPEG format  with  color-correc‐
19       tion and transparency features.
