9       nitrogen [ OPTIONS ] DIRECTORY?

DESCRIPTION

12       In  normal  working mode, provides an interface which displays all pic‐
13       tures in the given DIRECTORY.  From this interface, it is  possible  to
14       set  the  X11  root pixmap either temporarily or set and store the pic‐
15       ture, drawing mode, and X display for restoration later.  If no  direc‐
16       tory is specified, it uses the stored directories in your "library" (as
17       of 1.5). See the Preferences dialog.

19       When the --restore option is passed, nitrogen sets all backgrounds that
20       it  has a configuration for and exits immediately, for use in an .xini‐
21       trc or .xsession file.

OPTIONS

24       --restore
25              Restores previously saved pictures to the root displays.

28              Do not recurse into subdirectories of DIRECTORY.

31              Sorts the background list by  the  given  option.   By  default,
32              items  are  sorted as they are found on the filesystem, giving a
33              quasi-newest first sorting order.  Valid options are:
