NAME

4     rwall — send a message to users logged on a host

SYNOPSIS

7     rwall host [file]
8     rwall -n netgroup [file]

DESCRIPTION

11     The rwall command sends a message to the users logged into the specified
12     host or to users on all hosts in the specified netgroup. The message to
13     be sent can be typed in and terminated with EOF or it can be in a file.

DIAGNOSTICS

16     rwall: RPC: Program not registered
17             The rpc.rwalld(8) daemon has not been started on the remote host.

19     rwall: RPC: Timed out
20             A communication error occurred.  Either the network is exces‐
21             sively congested, or the rpc.rwalld(8) daemon has terminated on
22             the remote host.

24     rwall: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Timed out
25             The remote host is not running the portmapper (see portmap(8) ),
26             and cannot accomodate any RPC-based services.  The host may be
27             down.
