12 smbldap-passwd changes passwords for user accounts. A normal user may
13 only change the password for their own account, the super user may
14 change the password for any account.

16 If option -s specified then changed only samba password. If options -u
17 specified then changed only UNIX password. With no options then
18 changed both - UNIX and samba passwords.

20 Password Changes The user is first prompted for their old password, if
21 one is present. This password is then tested against the stored
22 password by binding to the server. The user has only one chance to
23 enter the correct passwword. The super user is permitted to bypass this
24 step so that forgotten passwords may be changed. The user is then
25 prompted for a replacement password. As a general guideline, passwords
26 should consist of 6 to 8 characters including one or more from each of
27 following sets:

29 Lower case alphabetics

31 Upper case alphabetics

37 Password will prompt again and compare the second entry against the
38 first. Both entries are require to match in order for the password to
39 be changed.
