NAME

6 fseeko, ftello - seek to or report file position
7

SYNOPSIS

9       #include <stdio.h>
10
11       int fseeko(FILE *stream, off_t offset, int whence);
12
13       off_t ftello(FILE *stream);
14

DESCRIPTION

16 The fseeko() and ftello() functions are identical to fseek() and
17 ftell() (see fseek(3)), respectively, except that the offset argument
18 of fseeko() and the return value of ftello() is of type off_t instead
19       of long.
20
21 On many architectures both off_t and long are 32-bit types, but compiā€
22       lation with
23              #define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64
24       will turn off_t into a 64-bit type.
25

RETURN VALUE

27 On successful completion, fseeko() returns 0, while ftello() returns
28 the current offset. Otherwise, -1 is returned and errno is set to
29       indicate the error.
30

ERRORS

32 See the ERRORS in fseek(3).
33

NOTES

35 These functions are found on System V-like systems. They are not
36 present in libc4, libc5, glibc 2.0 but are available since glibc 2.1.
37

CONFORMING TO
