6       whoami - display the effective current username

SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION

13       whoami  displays  the login name corresponding to the current effective
14       user ID. If you have used su to temporarily adopt another user,  whoami
15       will  report  the  login name associated with that user ID. whoami gets
16       its information from the geteuid and  getpwuid  library  routines  (see
17       getuid and getpwnam(3C), respectively).
