6       labelit_ufs - provide and print labels for ufs file systems

DESCRIPTION

13       labelit  is  used  to write labels on unmounted disk file systems. Such
14       labels may be used to uniquely identify volumes and are used by volume-
15       oriented programs such as volcopy(1M).

OPTIONS

18       The following option is supported:

20       generic_options    options  supported  by the generic  labelit command.

OPERANDS

25       The following operands are supported:

27       special    name should be  the  physical  disk  section  (for  example,
28                  /dev/dsk/c0d0s6). The device may not be on a remote machine.

31       fsname     represents  the  mount  point (for example, root, u1, and so
32                  on) of the file system.

35       volume     may be used to represent the physical volume name.

39       If  fsname and  volume are not specified, labelit  prints  the  current
40       values of these labels.  Both  fsname and  volume are limited to six or
41       fewer characters.
