6       kpac_dhcp_helper - provides Proxy Auto Configuration to KDE

SYNOPSIS

9       kpac_dhcp_helper

DESCRIPTION

12       Provides  Proxy  Auto  Configuration  to KDE by requesting a JavaScript
13       function that uses the requested URL to determine the  proxy  settings.
14       Locating that JavaScript can be done by using DHCP or DNS.

16       DHCP  is  preferred for its flexibility over DNS, which requires a wpad
17       hostname or a fixed location to a script.  The  only  requirements  for
18       DHCP are a network that supports DHCP and a current DHCP configuration.
19       kpac_dhcp_helper is the setuid application needed to support DHCP.

21       This tool is a support utility for KDE libraries and is not called from
22       the command line.

OPTIONS

25       kpac_dhcp_helper takes no arguments.

SECURITY

28       kpac_dhcp_helper must be used as setuid root.
