10 The ISO 8859 standard includes several 8-bit extensions to the ASCII
11 character set (also known as ISO 646-IRV). ISO 8859-8, or "ISO Hebrew"
12 encodes the characters used in Modern Hebrew (or Ivrit). Neither short
13 vowels nor diacritical marks are included, and Yiddish is not provided
14 for.
