DESCRIPTION

14       Report  errors  in  metadata  of  the  dirfile(5) database specified by
15       DIRFILE.

17       Three separate checks are performed.  First, the  format  specification
18       metadata  is  scanned  for  syntax  errors  (see dirfile-format(5)) and
19       Dirfile Standards compliance.  Second, fields defined in  the  database
20       are checked for self-consistency.  Finally, the database is queried for
21       its length.
