NAME

6       unix_update - Helper binary that updates the password of a given user

SYNOPSIS

9       unix_update [...]

DESCRIPTION

12       unix_update is a helper program for the pam_unix module that updates
13       the password of a given user. It is not intended to be run directly
14       from the command line and logs a security violation if done so.

16       The purpose of the helper is to enable tighter confinement of login and
17       password changing services. The helper is thus called only when SELinux
18       is enabled on the system.

20       The interface of the helper - command line options, and input/output
21       data format are internal to the pam_unix module and it should not be
22       called directly from applications.
