DESCRIPTION

13       ipmiutil  wdt  is  a program that uses IPMI commands to display and set
14       WatchDog Timer parameters.

16       This utility can use either any available IPMI driver, or direct  user-
17       space IOs, or the IPMI LAN interface if -N.

19       This  utility  is an example of how to access the IPMI watchdog parame‐
20       ters directly, which allows changing the timer configuration.

22       There is an init script provided with ipmiutil to automate the task  of
23       managing the watchdog timer in user-space.
24       # chkconfig --add ipmiutil_wdt      (skip this if no chkconfig)
25       # /etc/init.d/ipmiutil_wdt start
26       This  sets  the  watchdog  timer  to reset the system if the wdt is not
27       restarted within 90 seconds.  It creates  an  /etc/cron.d/wdt  file  to
28       restart  wdt every 60 seconds.  See also ipmiutil UserGuide section 4.4

OPTIONS

33       Command line options are described below.

35       -a N   Set watchdog event Action to N. Values: 0 = No action, 1 =  Hard
36              Reset(default), 2 = Power down, 3 = Power cycle.

38       -c     Show  watchdog  output  in  a  canonical  format, with a default
39              delimiter of '|'.

41       -d     Disables the watchdog timer.

43       -e     Enables the watchdog timer.  The timer is not actually  started,
44              however,  until  the  timer is reset.  The pre-timeout action is
45              not enabled.

47       -l     Set the watchdog dontLog bit to not log watchdog events  in  the
48              SEL.

50       -p N   Set  watchdog  Pretimeout  event  action  to  N.  Values: 0 = No
51              action(default), 1 = SMI, 2 = NMI, 3 = Messaging Interrupt.   If
52              this  is set to an action other than 0, the pretimeout will also
53              be set to 90% of the timeout.  However, if the timeout  is  less
54              than 20 seconds, the pretimeout will not be enabled.

56       -q S   Set  watchdog  pretimeout value to S seconds, rather than 90% of
57              the timeout as in -p.  The pretimeout value must be >= 5 and  at
58              least 5 seconds less than the timeout value.

60       -r     Resets  the watchdog timer.  This should be done every N seconds
61              if the timer is running to prevent the watchdog action  (usually
62              a system reset) from occurring.

64       -tN    Set  the watchdog Timeout to N seconds.  The default is 120 sec‐
65              onds (2 minutes).

67       -x     Causes extra debug messages to be displayed.

70              Nodename or IP address of the remote target system.  If a  node‐
71              name  is  specified,  IPMI LAN interface is used.  Otherwise the
72              local system management interface is used.
