6       queens - n queens screensaver

SYNOPSIS

9       queens [--display host:display.screen] [--window] [--root] [--window-id
10       number] [--install] [--visual visual] [--delay  microseconds]  [--wire‐
11       frame] [--fps]

DESCRIPTION

14       The queens program solves the n-queens problem (where, in this program,
15       N is between 5 and 10 queens) using a straightforward backtracking  al‐
16       gorithm.   The  problem is: how may one place N queens on an NxN chess‐
17       board such that no queen can attack a sister?

OPTIONS

20       queens accepts the following options:

22       --window
23               Draw on a newly-created window.  This is the default.

25       --root  Draw on the root window.

27       --window-id number
28               Draw on the specified window.

30       --install
31               Install a private colormap for the window.

33       --visual visual
34               Specify which visual to use.  Legal values are the  name  of  a
35               visual  class,  or the id number (decimal or hex) of a specific
36               visual.

38       --wireframe
39               Render in wireframe instead of solid.  --fps Display  the  cur‐
40               rent frame rate, CPU load, and polygon count.

ENVIRONMENT

43       DISPLAY to get the default host and display number.

46               to  get  the  name of a resource file that overrides the global
47               resources stored in the RESOURCE_MANAGER property.

50               The window ID to use with --root.

BUGS

53       It's not unknown for this and other OpenGL hacks to fail under hardware
54       accelaration (UtahGLX) and take the X server with them.  Texture images
55       must be 16x16 or 32x32 or 64x64 etc.
