6       apropos - locate commands by keyword lookup

9       apropos keyword ...

DESCRIPTION

12       Apropos  shows  which  manual  sections contain instances of any of the
13       given keywords in their title.  Each word is considered separately  and
14       case  of  letters  is ignored.  Words which are part of other words are
15       considered; thus, when looking  for  compile,  apropos  will  find  all
16       instances of `compiler' also.  Try

24       If the line starts `name(section) ...' you can do `man section name' to
25       get the documentation for it.  Try `apropos format' and  then  `man  3s
26       printf' to get the manual on the subroutine printf.

28       Apropos is actually just the -k option to the man(1) command.
