DESCRIPTION

22       The getwc() function shall be equivalent to fgetwc(), except that if it
23       is implemented as a macro it may evaluate stream more than once, so the
24       argument should never be an expression with side effects.

APPLICATION USAGE

38       Since it may be implemented as a macro, getwc() may treat incorrectly a
39       stream  argument with side effects. In particular, getwc(*f++) does not
40       necessarily work as expected.  Therefore, use of this function  is  not
41       recommended; fgetwc() should be used instead.
