110 command. Devices not listed will appear to be missing. This op‐
111 tion can be repeated, or accepts a comma separated list of de‐
112 vices. This overrides the devices file.

115 A file listing devices that LVM should use. The file must exist
116 in /etc/lvm/devices/ and is managed with the lvmdevices(8) com‐
117 mand. This overrides the lvm.conf(5) devices/devicesfile and
118 devices/use_devicesfile settings.

121 If set to no, the command will not attempt to use device-mapper.

158 Display the mapping of logical extents to PVs and physical ex‐
159 tents. To map physical extents to logical extents use: pvs

163 Suppress the headings line that is normally the first line of
164 output. Useful if grepping the output.

167 Do not use the hints file to locate devices for PVs. A command
168 may read more devices to find PVs when hints are not used. The
169 command will still perform standard hint file invalidation where

173 Disable locking. Use with caution, concurrent commands may pro‐
174 duce incorrect results.

177 Suppress the suffix on output sizes. Use with --units (except h
178 and H) if processing the output.

181 Comma-separated, ordered list of fields to display in columns.
182 String arg syntax is: [+|-|#]Field1[,Field2 ...] The prefix +
183 will append the specified fields to the default fields, - will
184 remove the specified fields from the default fields, and # will
185 compact specified fields (removing them when empty for all
186 rows.) Use -o help to view the list of all available fields.
187 Use separate lists of fields to add, remove or compact by re‐
188 peating the -o option: -o+field1,field2 -o-field3,field4
189 -o#field5. These lists are evaluated from left to right. Use
190 field name lv_all to view all LV fields, vg_all all VG fields,
191 pv_all all PV fields, pvseg_all all PV segment fields, seg_all
192 all LV segment fields, and pvseg_all all PV segment columns.

197 An alias for --commandprofile or --metadataprofile, depending on
198 the command.
199 -q|--quiet ...
201 Suppress output and log messages. Overrides --debug and --ver‐
202 bose. Repeat once to also suppress any prompts with answer
203 'no'.
204 --readonly
206 Run the command in a special read-only mode which will read on-
207 disk metadata without needing to take any locks. This can be
208 used to peek inside metadata used by a virtual machine image
209 while the virtual machine is running. No attempt will be made to
210 communicate with the device-mapper kernel driver, so this option
211 is unable to report whether or not LVs are actually in use.
212 --segments
214 -S|--select String
216 Select objects for processing and reporting based on specified
217 criteria. The criteria syntax is described by --select help and
218 lvmreport(7). For reporting commands, one row is displayed for
219 each object matching the criteria. See --options help for se‐
220 lectable object fields. Rows can be displayed with an addition‐
221 al "selected" field (-o selected) showing 1 if the row matches
222 the selection and 0 otherwise. For non-reporting commands which
223 process LVM entities, the selection is used to choose items to
224 process.
225 --separator String
227 String to use to separate each column. Useful if grepping the
228 output.
229 --shared
231 Report/display shared VGs that would otherwise be skipped when
232 lvmlockd is not being used on the host. See lvmlockd(8) for
233 more information about shared VGs.
234 -O|--sort String
236 Comma-separated ordered list of columns to sort by. Replaces the
237 default selection. Precede any column with - for a reverse sort
238 on that column.
239 -t|--test
241 Run in test mode. Commands will not update metadata. This is
242 implemented by disabling all metadata writing but nevertheless
243 returning success to the calling function. This may lead to un‐
244 usual error messages in multi-stage operations if a tool relies
245 on reading back metadata it believes has changed but hasn't.
246 --unbuffered
248 Produce output immediately without sorting or aligning the col‐
249 umns properly.
250 --units [Number]r|R|h|H|b|B|s|S|k|K|m|M|g|G|t|T|p|P|e|E
252 All sizes are output in these units: human-(r)eadable with '<'
253 rounding indicator, (h)uman-readable, (b)ytes, (s)ectors,
254 (k)ilobytes, (m)egabytes, (g)igabytes, (t)erabytes, (p)etabytes,
255 (e)xabytes. Capitalise to use multiples of 1000 (S.I.) instead
256 of 1024. Custom units can be specified, e.g. --units 3M.

266 Do not prompt for confirmation interactively but always assume
267 the answer yes. Use with extreme caution. (For automatic no,
268 see -qq.)

274 tional arg generally includes the VG name and LV name, e.g.

282 Size[UNIT]
284 Size is an input number that accepts an optional unit. Input
285 units are always treated as base two values, regardless of capi‐
286 talization, e.g. 'k' and 'K' both refer to 1024. The default
287 input unit is specified by letter, followed by |UNIT. UNIT rep‐
288 resents other possible input units: b|B is bytes, s|S is sectors
289 of 512 bytes, k|K is KiB, m|M is MiB, g|G is GiB, t|T is TiB,
290 p|P is PiB, e|E is EiB. (This should not be confused with the
291 output control --units, where capital letters mean multiple of
292 1000.)
